12/2025 Retreat - Applications OPEN

As our cacao retreat for April 2025 was fully booked, the upcoming 8-day Cacao retreat scheduled for December 2025 presents a unique opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Cacao & the Andean civilizations in Peru. This retreat is designed to explore the multifaceted aspects of the cacao plant, which has been revered for centuries not only for its culinary applications but also for its spiritual significance.

Facilitated by Fiorella, Peruvian woman, the director of Kaukawa and host at Women of Cacao, with extensive experience in cacao and indigenous cultures, participants will benefit from her expertise as an international chocolate taster & cultural guide. With over six years of working closely with cacao, Fiorella brings a wealth of knowledge about the plant's properties, its historical context, and its role in traditional practices.

The retreat aligns with the harvest season of 'chuncho' cacao, which occurs from December to April. Chuncho cacao is known for its unique flavor characteristics and is often considered one of the finest varieties of cacao available. During this period, participants will have the chance to engage in hands-on activities, including cacao harvesting and processing, which will deepen their appreciation for the labor and care that goes into producing high-quality cacao products.

In addition to practical experiences, the retreat will include discussions on the cultural significance of cacao in Andean & Amazon communities. Cacao has been used in various rituals and ceremonies, symbolizing connection, joy, and community. Understanding these cultural dimensions is essential for anyone interested in the broader implications of cacao in both historical and contemporary contexts.

Overall, this cacao retreat offers a holistic approach to understanding the cacao plant, combining practical knowledge, cultural insights, and health benefits. It is an opportunity for individuals to connect with nature, learn from indigenous practices, and foster a deeper relationship with Cacao,as well as providing insights into how these benefits can be integrated into daily life.
